SHIATSU TREATMENTS
Available in 30' Half or 60' Full Body
Shiatsu treatment is a type of massage of Japanese origin. The purpose of Shiatsu massage - similarly to other types of massage of oriental origin - is to act not only on the body but also on the psyche, making the individual reach a state of wellbeing in its totality (body and mind) and not only on a physical level.
According to the philosophy behind Shiatsu massage, in the body of each person there are so-called meridians within which flows a vital energy known as "ki". Alterations and blockage of the flow of this vital energy would lead to the appearance of imbalances, discomfort and disorders in the individual.
The purpose of Shiatsu massage, therefore, is to remove any blockages and restore the normal flow of ki energy, in such a way as to allow the individual to reach a new state of relaxation, well-being and psychophysical harmony.
Traditionally, the Shiatsu massage must be performed on the classic Japanese tatami, directly on the ground, in a quiet and silent environment.
Unlike many other types of oriental massage, moreover, Shiatsu does not involve the use of oils or essences and does not even require the need to remove clothes, as long as they are light and allow the masseur to do his work (for example, cotton pants and t-shirt). Despite this, in some spas, Shiatsu massage is done directly in contact with the individual's skin.
The manipulations carried out during the session basically involve the execution of tractions, stretches and pressures, the latter are practiced mainly with the fingers (acupressure), but also with the knuckles, wrists, palms and elbows. The pressures are usually deep but are carried out gently and gradually, so as not to create feelings of discomfort, or worse, pain in the massaged.
